One of the great things about the Facebook organic traffic model is how simple and repeatable the formula is.
You can take almost any suitable niche, create a Facebook page for it, grow a seed follower base using Facebook ads, and start to get traffic to your site relatively quickly!
A lot of people ask me how long this whole process takes, what are the distinct stages and how long will each stage take to work…
Here is an estimated timeline for each of the stages of transitioning your existing niche site onto Facebook traffic, or growing a new site and Facebook page from scratch.
Months 1-2: Setting Up Your Facebook (Fan) Page, Website And Buying The Seed Followers
On the Facebook side, your first job is to set up a Facebook page for your niche site. Let’s call it Border Terrier Fans (I chose that because I am a Border Terrier Fan!).
We add a profile pic of a Border Terrier (I recommend AI images for profile pics, using something like Midjourney), a profile banner, some basic info including email, and a link to our site.
Next, we set up the Facebook page like campaign via Facebook ads. Way too much to cover here in this short article on the ins and outs of doing this (my course has you covered), but rest assured it’s straightforward enough.
Facebook reach is such that you will need at least 10,000 followers to start your Facebook traffic journey, and these followers will need to be niche-targeted and in tier 1 countries like the US and UK.
Because scaling the page like ads too quickly will drive up your ad cost, you need to take this process slow and steady, allowing up to 2 months to grow the seed base of followers.
While this is happening, subscribe to a post scheduler such as Post Planner and start posting curated memes in your niche, or your own viral images if you can make them.
You should aim to post one unique image at least every 3 hours and cycle around 200-300 different images over the 2 months.
It’s very important not to rush this fledgling Facebook page, as it needs time to grow a healthy page score and engagement juice.
That means resisting the urge to post random non-niche content, links out to your site, or any post links with your site content at this early stage.
During this time, you have some time to create the content for your Facebook page or adapt content for Facebook if you have an existing SEO site.
Aim for 100-150 pieces of content to start posting in month 3. Remember, this content needs to be quite short and quickly readable for an impatient Facebook user!
The most viral memes you post during the first couple of months will give you some indication of what your followers respond well to!
Check your page analytics each week to find the most viral posts.
Months 3-6: Growing Your Followers Organically And Posting Content For Traffic
At this point, you should have grown your new page to 10-20,000 followers and you can put your credit card away as from this point onward you will be gaining your new page followers for free, virally.
Would you believe just one viral post can bring you in the realm of 10,000 new followers!
So stop running the page like ads now, and start posting 3-4 of your articles as link posts, in between the memes. So the posting schedule might be something like meme, status post, post link to your website, meme, status, post link, etc.
You will start to see steadier traffic coming to your site and you should be looking out for patterns of which kind of articles, thumbnails, and post titles resonate with your audience of followers during months 3 to 6.
Content-wise, you should aim to create another 100-150 pieces of content to cycle onto your posting schedule during this time.
Months 7-12: Scaling Your Content And Traffic
By month seven you should be seeing some more impressive results with your memes and post links. Double down on the type of content that is getting good engagement (even if it is quite similar) and going viral. Don’t use your intuition to create content, use the data and feedback Facebook is giving you!
You should have 300-400 articles by months 8-12 you can now cycle onto Facebook every two hours, repeating the process every 30-40 days.
This is where Facebook traffic becomes much more automated and passive.
To increase your site traffic, post more content.
To increase your page followers, post more memes! Simple.
I hope this article has helped you visualize how long a typical Facebook site takes to get consistent traffic using this method. Results vary of course!
